Know your stuff and not afraid to spell it?! In the spirit of ‘Back to School’ and all things educational, we’re holding our first ever Gardening Spelling Bee and we invite you to sign up!
Space will be limited to the first 25 guests who register, the runner-up will receive a $50 gift card to the garden center, and the last speller remaining will win a $200 gift card to the garden center. Words will be garden/garden activity related, and include tools (i.e. rototiller), related products (i.e. manure), practices (i.e. graft), insect/animal (i.e. aphid), and plant names (i.e. pachysandra). Though words will start off ‘easy’, they will get progressively harder, and yes, there will be Latin plant names on the list. Full rules will be posted closer to the time, but it will be a simple elimination process (if the word is not spelled correctly, the candidate will be eliminated), and there will be a time limit to spell each word. We anticipate the whole event will wrap up in one hour.
Whether you’re an avid home gardener, botany professor or just someone who likes a themed challenge, you are invited to participate! Though it is open to any age, given the challenge level this activity may be more suited for contenders aged 14 and up. There is no charge to enter but advanced registration is required.
