NOTICE: Train Rides will Not Be Running During the 2018 Holiday Season

2018 has been a wonderful year on so many levels, but it has also come with its share of challenges.

As many folks who have recently visited the store know, Brian took a tumble on Labour Day Weekend and as a result fractured his neck in three places. Though he is still here to answer questions (he was back at the shop that same afternoon!) many of his, and our team's, day-to-day activities have had to be adjusted, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. When coupled with the fact that we, like many organizations, are struggling to find team members to fill current vacancies, we have found ourselves in the position of having to re-evaluate our plans for the holiday season ahead.

Each Christmas season we strive to create a magical, festive environment for families and visitors of all ages to come and enjoy. Thousands of lights and display pieces are hung throughout the store to create a feeling of warmth and happiness, musical entertainment fills the shop with happy sounds, special guests surprise and delight the little ones, and the miniature train ride is set up to add a bit of fun. Our team spends weeks preparing for the 'twelve days before Christmas' during which we focus our activities. From testing lights to moving large sections of the greenhouse for laying track, building temporary structures to bringing in large trees as 'anchors' etc. it takes a great deal of time and physical effort to bring it all together. Given the extensive preparations needed for the event, and specifically the train, after a great deal of consideration we have made the decision that the miniature train ride will not be part of our holiday activities this year. The train requires a considerable amount of work 'before, during and after', and Brian, along with the key contractor we work with to set up the train and maintain it during operation, are unable to do such work this year.

We will still create beautiful light displays, cool vignettes, funky photo ops and coordinate fantastic entertainment this season, and we hope that you will be able to join us! Our days of celebration will be December 1-23. Should you have questions regarding our holiday activities, please refer to the details listed above (all Events are posted here). We are also fortunate enough to live in an area that is rich with holiday spirit and, as such, there are several family friendly events from Agassiz through to North Vancouver to participate in and enjoy. Please refer to the attached for a list of event locations.

We thank you very much for your understanding, and wish you a 'merry and bright' season ahead!
Sincerely, The Minter Family
